I liked this demo a lot. The intro with acoustic guitar and flute sets an atmosphere that is completely desecrated in the following track. At the start of the demo really heavy and drawn out doom metal riffs with heaps of hammer-ons are prevalent, but as the album progresses it becomes more melodic death-orientated. The final song is an immensely epic and melodic track ringing true to the era it was released in. The recording is of a much higher quality than most demos: raw, but still quite wide and clear. Overall In the Eye of the Serpent is brilliant in my opinion: simple, but effective.
