Cradle of Filth - Total Fucking Darkness Demo Everybody knows Cradle of Filth, so I'll just pass this introduction part. CoF, the ruler of the black metal scene has started practically from total zero. I mean, that this 'record' has one of the best Cradle of Filth songs ("The Black Goddess Rises"), but they perform that like shit. Sound is shit, and everything is shit. Not to mention the drummer... it surely ain't Nicholas... I thought that Cradle of Filth would have made a demo closer to "The Principle of Evil Made Flesh" -debyt album, but instead they've started with almost death metal, and they've gone on with shrieking vocals that can't really be heard here. That's too bad, because this doesn't sound Cradle for a single moment. (42 out of 100) Review by: Punisher What can I say? One of the first demos. Very nice, it's begining of FAMOUS CRADLE OF FILTH. Review by: Toman You are wrong Punisher, many riffs on this cd were taken and used on other songs, such as the first riff in "The RAping of Faith", which was used in "Beauty Slept in Sodom" on the Dusk and Her Embrace CD, and yes that is Nicholas drumming, get your ears fixed, this demo is great, and "The Raping of Faith" is the greatest song on here,you can download stuff off this demo for yourself at www.singingfish.com to hear for yourself. The only flaw is that Dani does alot of ad lib, or just gibberish. Review by: fosvart ok punisher... how in the fuck are cradle of filth the rulers of the black metal scene... and yes nick barker is drumming on this demo.. in my opinion this is by far the best shit cradle has ever put out (besides thier debut and vempire.. everything after vempire is pussy gothic bullshit that no true black metal warrior would even consider black metal) and as the other true warrior said.. "you do need to get your ears fixed" the version of the black goddess rises on this demo stands timeless to the other bullshit versions remade by the filthy poseurs.. and the song "unburied at dusk" and "the raping of faith" are cradle in the truest form they could manage to hold at one time.. it really is a shame, if you listen to this shit and then all the bullshit they come out with now.... so sad.. so sad... it looks that dimmu is going down the same path that these flithy fucks have paved... but it's ok punisher.. i know you can't help it.... do yourslef a favour and burn you cof cd's.. and maybe in a couple of years you might understand what the meaning of true black metal means... hails Review by: blackmetalbrad Yo, it's Joe!!! My opinion on Total Fucking Darkness is very positive. I believe that Cradle's first album (Principle...) sucked compared to the rest of their many albums, and that even this demo is better! I also believe that The Black Goddess Rises demo version is much better than the Principle version even if it did sound more like death metal. Yes, I agree that the quality sucked, but to me that doesn't matter. They made it the best they could at the time.
