Edge of sanity.. Crimson. the longest Death Metal track i have ever heard... well actually this album is awesome! it is really great and it really deserve to be rated a 10! just listen to it many times, and everytime you will find something new. i didnt see something like this before. This album is the best EOS album. Hail dan swano. he is the leader and actually after he left eos the band isnt that good anymore... but it is still good ofcourse. this album just makes me it is 4 minutes, not a 40 minute track! it is very good. and as i said before i never heard anything like this before! the aggressive voice is great and the guitars are very good... and the lyrics is a good story... i hight recomend this album...

one track+40 minutes+hundreds of ideas+dan swano = an incredifuckingfabulous album. lots of recurring brilliant melodies hold this song together as one and not a single boring moment exists... there is not a riff or solo you feel should not have been there in the first place, nothing that feels stretched or overdone. lots of clean guitars and clean vocals provide breaks from brutal swano & mikael grunts. simply put, this is an epic which no death metal fan should pass over.

It took forever to find this CD. For about a year I've been reading about the genius of this forty minute epic song that masquerades as an album. Now that I finally have it, will my anticipation match what the band has to offer?

HELLYEAH! This is unbelievable. Death metal hasn't exactly been known for what amounts to an epic in Genesis tradition (no, Phil Collins does NOT guest on vocals), but E.O.S. puts that paradigm to rest. Rather than utilizing separate parts, throwing them together, and calling them an epic song (Fates Warning, do you get what I'm saying here?), there is recurring musical themes throughout. Certain excellent guitar melodies pop up again and again throughout the work so it actually flows much better than it would otherwise. Forty minutes never has gone by so quickly. Dan Swano, of course, provides a ton of great vocals, from his gutteral death cries to that wonderful deep sonic voice that also shows up in his Nightingale projects.

My only other thought concerning this release: I heard Infernal before this and with the later album being somewhat mediocre, it's really too bad that E.O.S. didn't make this their final swansong with Dan Swanö. With that thought, make your local record store geek order this or tear out his spleen.

Ah the great experiment! Edge of Sanity always had a prog soul , sue to dan Swano's masquerading as a death metaller. But due to his dualism, he managed to create great fusions within the two genres that would influence countless death and black metal bands from Opeth to Enslaved. The fusion comes to a head with Crimson, an album that has the soul of Yes's Relayer mixed with everything including the kitchen sink. Turning the band into such an experiement allows it to become greater than the sum of its parts. And thus edge of Sanity finally blooms into the promised flower that was its legacy from the beginning. Unfortunately once the flower opens, it is soon to wither and thus edge of sanity burned out its last remaining creative energy with this classic album. But damn what a way to go! 6 out of 5

HOLY SHIT!!! One album song, 40 minutes long = BRILLIANCE!! Amazingly fitted together, very well structered song with great solos and interludes. Uses the Opeth style hard and slow movements which deliver 100%.

To sum it all up, this album is great and if you don't have it...you're missing out BIG TIME, if you're a metal fan.
