Actually, this is a big disappointment for me :( Despite very, very good reviews, I think this isn't near the quality of the Domus Mundi album!

don't agree, hollenthon is a mixture of so many styles ... it's like you are listening to every metalgenre at the same time. It's so intense , but still it's high quality.
One of the hightlights of 2001 , it ended in my top 3 that year.

An excellent album. The last song (Conspirator) is the darkest and vilest piece of music I heard since Morbid Angel's 'Hatework'.

I don't know how this is possible , i must have been drunk or something , to be honest this band really sucks , it's new and stuff , but this is nothing for black metal fans and certainly not for the doom masters . I like domus mundi more but both cd's are too happy .
5 / 10

While listening it, just when I thought I'm gonna rate this 2/10, some unexpected funny tunes on an overall boring album save it from total disgrace.
This album completely bleaches in the radiance of its predecessor.

5/10

To say that this album is boring is an unjustice. Hollenthon's Domvs Mvndi might have been more "black" than this one, but here their style (because they do have a style) has taken more grandor. This is one of the few bands in Black Metal that innovated rather then do non-melodic grunting like all other silly-bands. Of course, when a band like this comes and brakes the rules, some grund-heads might under-rate it, but that doesn’t change the fact that this album is absolutely phenomenal. Not even one melody is like the other, you got 8 different albums in one piece. Boring? Reading that an album such is this is classified by other as boring is dissapointing. 10/10 for this album.

I completelly agree with the above review, this album is phenominal and definatelly far from boring, who cares about metal anyway if you can't explore more than one type of music then you have problems, this band definatelly break the rules, this album is far better than any black metal metal band, I love black metal, but most of it sounds the same, this however does not, combining classical elements with death metal especially on the track lords of bedlam, I can't wait for the next release, dominus mundi was good this album was even better, I can't wait to to hear what they come out with next!

Hollenthon are back for more! Being such an amazing band from their debut release, they havn't strayed very far but yet they seem to have taken up a more mainstream influence to their music.
But the thing is, it's still amazing! The quality has been modified to perfection, and their music is still alive and kicking, with the creative genius that Martin is. There's beauty in the folk riffs with the clean vocals of both he and his wife, and then the more aggressive side of their faster parts, still not straying from their ultra-melodic style with his opera vocals adding a completely solid and full essence to the background portion of the music.
I give it a ten. Completely original, and you can't blame Hollenthon for changing their style at least a little bit - but still, they've come back full force for another great album. I hope it's not their last!
