this album is incredible. katatonia has always had its characteristic depressive edge, with just a tinge of hope, and this album fits right in with it that mood. it sounds like tonight's decision, but more modern in some ways. yet as much as all the songs are rockin', they are still incredibly progressive and melodic and depressing if taken in as a whole. it somewhat resembles 80's goth rock or modern alternative rock more than their earlier doom metal masterpieces, yet i still love both old and new styles.

in short, these songs are gentle enough for alternative radio, yet awesome enough to blow away anything else on the airwaves nowadays. perfect for any fan of melodic prog rock or prog metal, i guess like opeth.

highlight songs: all of them, esp. 'dispossession' 'chrome' 'tonight's music' 'i transpire'

bleh... not great, but the songs "tonight's music" and "sweet nurse" make it worth the purchase.

katatonia's last fair deal gone down could eat any goth bands offerings for breakfast. talk about disspearity dissposetion bleakness loss pain fear suffering suicide and all things sullen and sarrowfull. jonas vocalizes the anguish with deep passion. anders nysrom instermentalizes
the epiphanys. the lyrics reek of emptyness. proggresive
metal will not be the same after it takes a leathal dose
of the "last fair deal gone down". fans of opeth and porcupine tree will enjoy it most. 9/10

Personally. I think this is Katatonia's best album to date. I think it's wonderful to see a band master both harsh Doom/Death metal on their previous albums (which are great too) and also master their new style which is a type of derisive rock metal sound. This is really a great album, that I have heard many times now. I can highly recommend this for everyone...go buy it now

In my opinion this is the strongest Katatonia album.
Though I'm a big fan of the older material,I must admit this album is too damn brilliant.

Great guitar work, great drumming, the vocals improved, even some samples were added here & there.
Deep & inteligent lyrics, dealing with darkness, frustration, discourage, death, loss of hope etc.

Every song is a pure masterpiece.

I can praise this album forever but I suggest ya stop reading and go purchase it.

10/10
