Honestly this is the worst album of Mortiis, with a disco sound it’s the worst, and now they have a female voice in one song, the grudge, this is very horrible, believe me, Smell the rain was like… right, new things, not very techno, but, a little, but this album, the grudge 100% techno, even a female voice has… this is horrible, I’ve heard this, only one time, to have an opinion about this work of mortiis, I listen to all the tracks and I don’t know… this is a very, very bad album.

A step up from his last album, which was kinda amuturish sounding,he has captured a fuller more produced sound...Mortiis to me is a lost soul clambering up the spine of God,the emotionon on the album reflects this i think...I'd give it a 7 out of 10,but i think the stardard could be improved and i'd strongly beleive that the next album will be even better,up there with NIN and the like.

OK, OK, I like ALL Mortiis material. This album, is not bad, ( my friend downloaded it for me to preview, I'm still buying the fucking thing) but it is better than "Smell of Rain". I will admit, like I did on the review I did for "Smell of Rain", the album before this one had alot of TALKING and not much singing. But hey, the guy put his heart into both albums... give him a break.

this is a bizzare album . its pure chaos and i dare to call it the strapping young lad of industrial music its still nin/ministry inspired but its kickass the smell of rain was a master piece , this one is just eccelent

with the grudge mortiis has continued to travel even further from his roots in black metal and this album is a continuation of mortiisis exploration in the electronic genre. although allot of pople would say that mortiis has 'sold-out' by doing this but i think that mortiisis experimentation shows him to be an evolving artist. i would have to say though that although musicly good this album doesnt really explore any thing new in terms of electronic music and mortiis doesnt really pose a threat to the current king of electronic/industrial music trent reznor. if mortiis went back to his roots in black metal and tried to combine them with his new styles then the result would become something unique an different and this guy does have the best nose ever!

Not as good as The Smell Of Rain or his earlier work but Mortiis has successfully latched onto another style of music. Uncannilly similar to Nine Inch nails in quite afew parts, the album still retains the Mortiis feel which everyone loves!

Wow!! Mortiis is in real progress! Like everyone I think that the old Mortiis was better before. However, The Grudge is better than The smell of rain it's real... More agressive, with more of pain in the voice. I like that! If you hate every electronic music, don't buy it. You will be disapointed. But every fans of Mortiis should buy this Cd!
The song Twist the Knife is really ... morbid ;O---

I am a real Mortiis fan and I concider all his releases to be outstanding pieces of electronic music. I like 'Født Til Å Herske' just as much as 'The Smell Of Rain' -unfortunately I still haven't heared the 'The Song Of A Long Forgotten Ghost' demo yet - and 'The Grudge' also pleases me very much. I can understand why many metalfans don't like Mortiis' style of music anymore, but I myself can go completely crazy (in a positive way) to this record. This is no fucking party house or something like that: it's electronic music that is influenced by dance indeed, but it's composed and combined with other styles of music in an intelligent way. Especially "Broken Skin", "The Grudge", "The Worst In Me" and the easy-going "The Loneliest Thing" prove what a value Mortiis has for today's electronic music. And to all you conservative metalheads out there: go and see Mortiis live some time - he's much more 'metal' on stage than on his studio albums...

9/10

oh no... why that?

"The Smell of Rain" was a step after "a bad album" but it still had the 1/100 of the magic that his music used to have some years ago...

This album is bad.. really bad.. ignore it

2/10

If that guy wants to release such things, he shouldn't do it as Mortiis.Well,he has some side projects... I like all his albums exept this one. Every album Mortiis album is linked to another, even Smell of rain has similar atmosphere to earlier releases, but The Grudge doesn't suit to his discography. It hasn't Mortiis' atmosphere

Mortiis' Era 3 is more aggresive then his Era 2 which died pretty fast(i wonder why). This CD reminds me alot of the Downward Spiral(expecialy the first song), but it's not exactly like it. i think the best song in this album would be The Grudge because of different elements put in it and i love his voice in that song... in all together i think this ablum is going to be the start of a long Era 3 for Mortiis(there are rumors that he might make The Stargate's countinueing peice for Era 3, which would mean it wont be like the first one, would be more industrial...i hope it works out for him)

i like to listen to many kinds of music
for me the first period of Mortiis was a whole new music.
it might be primitive and simple but it has a lot of emotion into it.

i find "the smell.." and "the grudge" somehow immature.

i think its for 15 year olds that are easily impressed by pauser goths with no substance
we cannot accuse him of his last releases, he has produced some excellent albums in the past.

i am satisfied because i know i can listen to his old albums, and dissapointed because i was expecting a different evolution in his music

The best thing for the whole reputation of this group would be NOT PRUDUCING THIS ALBUM AT ALL. This is a fucking shame ! I dont care if he wanted to change style or something like that. This is pure shit and dont buy this. Buy the older albums instead and show that they are selling and not this fucking shit ! "Techno turns you into a fucking idiot" - I believe so too !

cunts!!! this is shit!!! mortiis, the little troll who lives in the woods should die there!!! i even wasted my time buying the limited edition cover which is cool but thats about it with this pile of crap album!!! if he wants to be trent reznor, he should start by licking the lord of industrial metal's boots and then talk about trying to make an album somewhere near the bottom of anything nin could muster up!!! get back into your cave troll-man!!! bring out some good stuff like other bands you've never been in!! the smell of rain is far better if i have to judge the two???
