Very great efforts have been made for a increased production.
Very beautyful epic songs. Allthough, 'grace unhearing' is not the best example
for the overwhelming songwritting- capabilities of MDB.

My favorite band At its best. Many think that this not as good as the ones before but for me it is the absolute zenith! What can i say... All songs are beutiful...

This is my favorite My Dying Bride album without any doubt. This is depressive but yet easy to listen. I like the violin and the drums the most I think. I really never heard of people who liked "Like Gods Of The Sun" most. I think that record contains so many good songs, actually none of them are bad or less than the others. 'A Kiss To Remember', 'For You', 'Dark Caress' actually all songs are masterpieces to me.

Without any doubt the best MDB album.

Like any doom album should be: Depressive, athospheric, dark

The very best Song of all: For my fallen angel

In my first listening I thought: "well, this stuff is good but inferior to previous albums". In fact, 9 years after that day I haven't listened anything better that 'Turn Loose the Swans' :)
The first song, title song, is one of the worst songs ever written by the band. 'The dark caress' has a cool beginning, but at the end bores a bit. 'Grace unhearing' is a bit boring too, and 'A kiss to remember' is OK except the middle part that sucks. I don't understand why it is an all-time favourite for so many fans.
I like 'all swept away', the keyboard and guitars sounds great and creates a haunting atmosphere. 'For you' sounds nice, with that change between the slow part and the powerful part with the violin.
'It will come' is OK, and the limited version that comes in the digipack version is interesting too, even better in some passages.
'Here in the throat' is very good, the violin and the singing of Aaron are exceptional. Probably is the fastest song of the CD, and it's good because the guitars sounds very well in comparation with 'the Angel and the Dark River' but the songs are too slow on the whole. And it would be the last album for Rick, sad thing because he was an amazing drummer.
'For my fallen angel' is very nice at the middle and the ending, the keyboards are well done but the violin is a bit irritating. I understand that such a song is very difficult to create without sounding gay, but MDB does a good job.
In general LGOTS is easy-listen, and I read it sold around 200.000 copies, incredible for this type of music. In fact there are not many albums in this gothic-doom-heavy-metal genre, maybe this explains the success.
Not the most inspiring moment of MDB, but a classic anyway.

Common!!! This is THE best MDB album ever.
Talking simple statistics, it's the only album that has 2 out of 5 best MDB songs (according to fan's favorite songs poll, which took place on tehir official web-site some time ago).
Persanally, it would have become my favorite album just by having "A kiss to remember" on it; but it also includes such masterpieces as "For my fallen angel" and "For you".
I won't never understand how somebody can like this less than awfully-boring "Turn loose the swans"

Absolute blast in the world of Gothic Doom, and bands' pick of creativity! 10/10
