Again something better than Far Beyond Driven. But somehow this album hasn't got that amazing feeling I have when I listen to Vulgar Display Of Power. This album contains also a couple of very, very good songs. The vocals are great here, it isn't that strange, those are recorded at the home stuio of Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) which is simply a music-genious/god. And the lyrics are again great. Phil sometimes looks like a retarded Neanderthaler but when you read his lyrics, you get the idea that he can think (huh? Phil... think?). But its still PanterA...

Of course this is not Vulgar Display of Power and it ain't no Far Beyond Driven, but still, this IS PANTERA. They wanted to make something heavy, and they did something f*ckin' heavy. They wanted to show the world that Pantera would never change, that even if Far Beyond Driven hits N.1 on the Billboard (first metal album to do that!) they would stay what they are : Pure American metal, against all trends! Some good songs, some average ones, but it is worth it only for 'Drag The Water' and 'War Nerves'. Nothing extraordinary but they stay true, so hold your beer up high and HAIL!!!

You got the TREND part right. Pantera sucks balls. From the fat clown named DIMEBAG DARRELL to the pussy cock rocker Philip Alseno. For a laugh check the side projects(Down,SuperJoint Ritual)and remember Pantera copyed off Exhorder which also sucks ass but at least were original. Pantera is like listening to Britney Spears in the world of metal. The public needs to realize they are heavier and better bands than the weak(Metallica(lol),Megadeath,Pantera,Slayer,Slipknot,Black Sabbath,WASP,ect...)and wake up and think for yoursel and try something different not follow a trend.

Panter is nothing about a trend man. Of course heavier music is out there but sometimes we don't want it heavier. Sometimes music is about what drives you and makes you feel alive, if Pantera doesn't do that then your listening to the wrong shit any ways! Pantera is one of a kind and always will be till the end. This is one bad ass album and it made for some killer shows! I only wish I could see their show one last time.

i don't understand why this album got a lower rating than the albums before it (vulgar, far) This is clearly the most pissed off and morose pantera record there is, and it get's thrashin. The guitar work is great, the drums are mediocre(i dont think the drummer is that great anyways) and the vocals are excellent, especially since anal cunt's seth is screaming along on this record. phil has lost the incredible voice on the PM and CFH records, so his clean vocals on this album aren't perfect, but I guess they fit. This is the BEST pantera album, if i had to choose i'd say fuck all of the other albums.
95/100

The Great Southern Trendkill:

Hmm...so much to say about this album...100% heavy, 100% dissonant, 100% original, entirely made to be shoved up the ass of ignorant people who are completely closed-minded to music ("true" metalheads, emo kids, and nu-metal-obsessed people all come to mind). Basically, Pantera got pissed off with the 'trends' that always come with music, and people who always sell themselves out for the next greatest thing. I love every song on this cd, but Drag the Waters, 13 Steps, Suicide Note parts 1 and 2, Floods, and Sandblasted Skin all stand out. The entire thing is a whirlwind of ass-kicking, complete with insane screams, equally amazing clean vocals, and equally amazing drumming, bass, and guitars. Pantera is easily one of the greatest bands ever. Entirely original. 10/10
