Musically speaking, this is extremely well composed and even somewhat haunting (in that nightly jazz way), but it's nothing I can get into. There are a lot of irritating samples and scratchy noises (no, not a turntable) that get underneath my skin and make me want to retch. The fact that these annoying tendencies turn up throughout the 24 minutes of this single mammoth track makes it all the more passable. It's a good thing I didn't pay too much for this waste of plastic and aluminum. I ended up giving it freely to my girlfriend since she thought it was interesting (she even detected some "Euro music" influences, which she tells me is supposed to be something like Techno *vomit*). And with this rumour of a "symphonic" version of Nattens Madrigal, I personally think Garm should just throw in the fucking towel. Boycott this fucking release and everything after their Trilogy!!!

I beg to differ with Ankou, in a very respectful way. True, it is really difficult to get into the cryptic sounds of this record, but once you're inside, the reward is totally worth the effort. There is a certain amount of Euro influence but, in my humble opinion, it doesn't really get in the way of the music, it just enhances the experience. Almost devoid of Garm's haunting vocals, and maybe that would be my main complain, it's nonetheless a very memorable and ecclectic decomposition of the traditional techno, Ulver-style.
Just for the record, I've been an Ulver fan for almost ten years (around the Bergtatt years) and I consider the turn taken in "Marriage of..." was maybe the most fortunate they could have taken. The present trilogy is an acomplishment of true artists, working beyond music and images. Working with feelings and experiences you would say. Of course, this also applies to the entire Ulver catalogue, even in Vargnatt years.
Black metal still rules though.
