This album sounds like a cheap echo of Black to the Blind, all the songs sound like heard before, there's absolutely nothing new here. They've tried to create something like on "Black..." but they were unable... It was the beginning of their end.

Vader - Litany (CD - Metal Blade Records - 2000)

Well, with shame on my cheeks I must admit that this is my first 'experience' with Vader. I can't compare this newest album with previous ones, but I guess I won't be far off the record when I say this CD is about to become their best one so far. Yeah I know I'm a fortuneteller... Musicwise Vader brings you fast and furious Death Metal. The sound/production is really killer, and when you know the band is from Poland, you know it's a compliment. What to expect... The album starts off absolutely great so I had great expectations for the rest of the album remaining. The pace is immediately settled as ultra fast (my compliments to the drummer). I first thought the rest of the songs would continue to be really fast without breaks, but I was wrong. It turned out to be a really various sounding CD with loads of tempo breaks and huge bang parts. At first I didn't like the voice, it has this trashy pitch but after a while it commons. The artwork is great and well done. It's got this Egyptian theme, kinda like the Nile album(s). You also get this cool CD-ROM extra: a full band biography (interesting), pictures, a video of a CD track and some more stuff. I'd say get this record immediately, it’s worth every penny. I'm off now to get their previous albums.

This is THE death metal album for me. It is my fav Vader album (Followed closely by DeProfundis). The guitars are absolutely ripping through. They're very heavy but not too much downtuned which makes them just a little more melodic than the average death metal_don't get me worng though they're still brutal as fuck! The vocals actually switch between the death metal grunts and some more thrashy parts which gives the songs another dimention. In the rythm section there's excessive use of blast beats and double-bass which somehow never becomes boring simply because it creates different partterns in each song instead of repeating itself. Doc is one of my fav drummers-RIP.
all in all this is a death metal masterpiece gathering all the positive sides in the genre with mixed a slight thrash influence.
