For sure this is one hell of a blast. Actually i bought it in a second hand shop for a very cheap prise. I didn`t knew what to expect. But when i put on the CD it fuckin killed me. Satanic, aggressive, evil but still majestic death metal is what you get. The atmosphere is pure hell. Just listen to the title track. This is one unholy piece of art. The vocals is from the very pits of hell. I think its quite amazing that Vital Remains is so "unknown" in the death metal scene.
Just buy this piece of hell. You won`t regret it.

I bought this CD as soon as it came out, because I had heard very good comments on Vital Remains at that time.
Now, 6 years later, I don't think I have played this record more than 10 times. It's just collecting dust in my CD-rack, but not without a good reason. What this CD offers us, apart from very nice cover art, is musical redundancy.
Most songs are played in a death metal with black metal influences kind of way, which can often be a good thing but not so with Vital Remains.
The result for VR on this particular release has been a load of songs without any cohesion, decent progression or atmosphere whatsoever. Add to this the downward pathetic vocal skills of the lead singer and you have yourself a horrendous and boring CD. The only halfway decent track on this release is an instrumental "atmospheric" song somewhat at the end of the cd, of which I can't remember what it's called.

If you are interested in checking out Vital Remains, skip this atrocity and proceed right to their next release "Dechristianize", an excellent full death metal release featuring no one less than Glen Benton on vocals.
