Angizia have to be the best Devil Doll rip off ever. THIS IS NOT A BAD THING!! Carnival music not totally unlike Mr. Bungle but more obviously bonkers and more classically orientated. Take the idea from the exact end of "Mr. Doctor" or the bit about 22:10 minutes in from "The Girl Who Was... Death" (you know the part), and expand on it. That's Angizia. And the vocalist sounds EXACTLY like Mr. Doctor. | All this said, Ein Toter fährt gern Ringelspiel is about as metal as Devil Doll too (And for those of you who don't know DD, that's not very much at all). The music might have string interments, for sure, but they're more from the violin family than from an electric guitar. Add general carnival music, an accordion that only seems natural, constant drums, a theatrical, circusy piano, and the violin and there you go. There are more instruments, of course: guitars here and there doing little, clarinets, bass… again like DD, there’s a full composition of instruments here. On top of that, we have a VERY good female vocalist (Ms. Irene Denner) singing like she's the sidekick of an insane ringmaster. Ringmaster played by Michael "Mr. Doctor" Haas, whose sounds EXACTLY like and sings in the EXACT same way as Mr Dr does. Have I mentioned this guy sounds like Mr. Doctor yet? Seriously, the only major difference is that this album's in German. Anyways, 10.Totenackerswing shows off some jazzy elements, and the album becomes more dramatic than just the goofy circus music in later tracks, but it mainly is centered around a theatric, bouncy sound, almost mocking the general happiness traditionally attached to it. Seriously, if you're looking for a soundtrack to an evil circus, that doesn't progress everywhere like the Devil Doll albums I know you all have, this is your release! (although, from the current limit of copies, ya might have to download it until the re-issue that may or may not come.) Review by: eipps
