to my liking this is their best album, the one defining them perfectly. It has all you can expect from a so-called old school death metal band: Aggression, melody, technical mastery, great lyrics and so on... all combined in a perfect manner. It owns also great riffings, sudden breaks, and above all a raging and bitter vocal style throwing forth despondent and somehow mystical lyrics. This is a masterpieces which belongs in all metal fan's collection. A fine jewel!! | Review by: vvlad-tepess Everyone praises "Slaughter of the soul", but in my opinion this record is ATG:s biggest contribution to the metal world. "Slaughter" has too much influences from Slayer and mid 90īs Carcass to be called unique. "With fear I kiss the burning darkness" is so brilliantly composed and performed that itīs almost divine. The melodies, tempo-changes and song structures are so impressive! It takes weeks, even months, to fully appreciate every bit, but itīs worth it. Review by: xxdp This album is awesome! Whatever way you find to get it, just hear it. What really moved me was the hidden track at the end. It's like nothing the band's ever done. Just an amazing minute and a half of almost grindcore like music. My No 2 album for 1993 (after "The Red In The Sky Is Ours") Review by: Anselmo
