Somehow just not as good as Blood On Ice... | but a decent effort nevertheless. I got this for a bargain price of SIX POUNDS (UK Sterling) A good aquisition :=) Review by: m_amery Nordland I is excellent new Bathory material. It could be viewed as a sequel to "Hammerheart" (my personal favorite Bathory piece). Nordland has a much better production than "Hammerheart" and its predecessor "Destroyer of Worlds." The songwriting is of very high caliber with no filler (as was the case with a couple tracks on "Destroyer"). You can put the cd on and enjoy every track (it has 'staying' power too, as I still enjoy it after nine months). The recording possesses a nice variety: Nordland, the song, is sort of progressive metal (with a crushingly powerful intro), Vinterblot and Dragon's Breath are ultra heavy and doomy, Ring of Gold is a captivating acoustic piece, Foreverdark Woods is a mesmerizing epic, and Broken Sword is a thrash fest with some acoustic parts thrown in for good measure. The last two songs are good as well. Nordland I is superior to Nordland II in my opinion. Overall, it's my third favorite Bathory recording after "Hammerheart" and "Destroyer." Enjoy! Review by: dirk waren What a great album! Fantastic Viking hymns, mighty, emotional and elevated! The best song is Nordland, a 9-minute epic describing the northern landscapes and also referring to northern folkore. Review by: the_patriarch
