So, here we have the second assault from the Austrian masters. Some line-up changes have occurred during the 3 years between The Last Supper and Blutsabbath and only the 2 guitarists (Helmuth and Sigurd) remained. Doesn’t matter as they are excellent in what they do. If the debut has shown (at least) a high potential of them, Blutsabbath is really a masterpiece. The music has shifted strongly to the BM waters (accordingly to the cover, which is B&W and contains in addition some inverted crosses etc.). The sound is better, guitars are more readable. The music itself contains much more melodies and also tempo-changes, drums are faster and more precise, vocalist prefers the BM shrieks. The overall atmosphere is uniquely dark and brutal, music is fast, yet it’s readable and not sterile and it contains a lot of (ugly) feeling. | In general terms, this is really killing and ass-kicking album and absolutely a must-have for everyone who likes brutal music. I give 10/10. Review by: racik Ah Blutsabbath, the album that convinced me to start buying albums on the internet. Just the cover was enough, but what an excellent name for a band. The Belphegor logo with the upside down crosses is just perfectly rendered. So powerful. The album arrived and rarely left the cd player. The music is driving and there is a story in the chord phrasing. Lightning short solos and blackest of vocal grunts and screams let you know that Belphegor is all business. The cd booklet is well done and the inside picture is very moving. 10 out of 10 in my book. I would like to see Belphegor tour the USA, check them out. Review by: jewimberly
