What can I say about this album? Is the best death metal album ever recorded! Im a big fan of the other deicide albums , but , none get even close to this one.....dead by dawn is the best one, if you need a deicide introduction this is it Review by: Sad spirit This album is on the top 5 death metal album list. It's a must have for a fan of extreme music and a good first buy for a fan just getting into the scene. Thereīs nothing close to this record, not even Morbid Angel or Bolt Thrower. "Deicide" is just pure madness. Violent, full of hate, aggressive, original, blasphemous, sombre, a fuck into your ears. Especially Bentonīs vocal style is here more extrem than on any other Deicide record. The doubled parts, in wich he grunts deeply and screams high tone at once are more demonic than any Black Metal singer could ever be. The drums are machine gun fire and the guitars are like thrashing demon wings. Although the sound is a little chaotic, I like it exactly that way. Itīs impossible to mention the best songs, they are all great. "Dead By Dawn" is most evil, "Crucifixation" most aggressive, oh what the hell who cares? He didn't do it ,i guess he pussied out,instead were stuck with garbage like (Insineratehynm,In Torment In Hell,and now the uninspired Scars of Crucifix. In this album Glen sounds too much young than in legion and the posterior albums but it sound really energic, the only bad thing is the production that sometimes doesn't let you hear the bass. It can be said that the album was quite ahead of its time and flew above the listeners' heads thus not recieving due credit. The music for most part, is tight ( credits to the masterminds Glen Benton and Steve Asheim) with brutal riffs and drumming. The lyrics include the trademark blasphemies. THe vocals that are arranged in layers with Benton doing three diferent pitches of vocals sound pretty dynamic. Benton growls to completely captivate the listener's imagination. With this album Deicide take the listeners in a fast and bumpy ride through the infernal depths of hell and all that is blasphemous fuelled by intense hatred, anger and nihilism against the obvious. THe album is 29minutes 9 seconds which means you can listen to it again and gain without getting bored. Perhaps this album was the peak of Deicide's musical ambitions.
