The band's first album is a mixture between doom and gothic metal. A certainly has some Theatre of Tragedy influences, but I like Draconian more than similar bands of the "beauty and the beast"-style (growling male voice and angelic female voice). | The first song "The cry of silence" is really superb and if you do not yet know the band, I recommend listening to this song first. With a length of 10 minutes it combines everything the band has to offer. The next songs are okay, for instance the interesting "A slumber did my spirit seal", whose lyrics are an old poem. "Reversio ad secessum" is not bad, but the rest is medium quality after you heard it a few times. The last highlight is the folkish acoustic ballad "Akherousia", which does not really fit to the rest of ther album, but is a good song. The album ends with the song "It grieves my heart", which is okay as well. To sum up, this is a solid album for people that like doom and don't mind a gothic touch in it. If you don't like the latter, you should choose their second album. Review by: Mention-Find
