Here's something weird. To be honest, I didn't think this could be anything other than a slighty embarrassing experiment for Entombed, but I didn't know what was cooking in the minds of the band and their ballet dancing friends. This is not just Entombed running through a few tunes as accompanyment to the dancers. This is actually a re-imagining of the songs with large soundscapes created from the samples we've heard previously on their albums, and with the songs themselves cut and spliced to create new shapes. It really works! To start with, the sound of the album is spectacular, and truly unique for a live metal recording. This comes from the fact that it was recorded in a 'proper' theater where the acoustics are amazing, and where the audience don't actually make any noise while the band is playing. It's quite spooky to be honest. Just listen to L.G.'s solo piano opening, you can almost hear the theatre breathing. Entombed's regular live show is quite rightly built on sweat and noise, but this setting really allows the inherant atmosphere of their songs to shine through. Secondly, the band themselves play beautifully, with the star pick being the totally brutal, yet intriguingly subtle work of guitar heroes Alex and Uffe. They really know how to make a delay pedal sing folks. Of course, this is only half the experience, with the release of the accompanying DVD needed to tell the whole story, but with the packaging as stylish and extensive as it is, this is an evocative and atmospheric record of what must have been an amazing night for everybody. I just hope the DVD has some extra stuff on it, cos this clocks in at only around 40 minutes, and I can't help but be left wanting more by album's end. Another testament to Entombed's unique vision and creativity, and an 8/10 from me. | Review by: Tom Satan
