One of the best things Matellica ever did, after And Justice....this is far the best that ever happened in metal....every song is bursting of killer riffs, oh damn i love this one | Review by: Jerry Why does everyone hold this album on so high a pedestal? I'm going to be very curt, which is something I don't normally do in my reviews. This stuff fucking sucks and Metallica didn't lose it after [insert album of choice here] because they never fucking had it to begin with! So much pointless repetition and structures that lead to NOWHERE as well as the frequent wimpy melodic guitar solos/sections. Every song on here makes me fall asleep. It's no surprize that the masses have such horrible taste. I'll stick with early Slayer and Dark Angel any fucking day. Bah, Metal album of all time my ass! Review by: Ankou this album is the best of all time. an it will kick slayer r.i.b all over the place.kerry n jeff sounded lioke a beginner who just played guitar, kirk will kick them all over the place. hail metallica! Review by: hammett Album-legend Probably best album of Metallica - it's just great James still knew how to sing and Kirk knew how to play solos, even Lars played well, not like now, and of course Cliff who has never failed but once... Review by: Mik Great album, only orion is crappy. Instrumental:S. Paster of Muppets ;) kicks ass, best metallica together with justice and kill em all. 9 of 10 Review by: euronydead What can I say? This is one of the best metal albums of all time so get while you still can! Review by: Kipje84 As many others agree, this is definitly the high point of Metallica. Master of Puppets increased the horizons of Metallica to a level that was unheard of before. Battery is a killer song to start off the album with, followed by Master of Puppets, a song about drug addictions. The Thing That Should Not Be is my personal favorite off of the album, because plain and simple, it is a kick ass song with an extreme feel to it, as well as a "cultist" mood. Welcome Home carried on the softer edge, now essential, in the album. Disposable Heroes was... well... I think that song should have been put on ...AJFA, personally... The whole war deal, get it? Anyways, Leper Messiah, Orion, and Damage Inc. are the simple definition of "Kick your ass, best metal album". Overall, I give this album the full 10/10. Review by: Deatheaven Heavy metal music is something without which I can’t imagine my life for the last 8 or 9 years (since I was 17). I got into it forever. And Metallica was the very first metal band I heard thanks to some good people, and that was this record, “Master of Puppets”, no less. Some good stuff to begin with, isn’t it? This is a thing that even after the first time of listening to it makes you understand: this is the real art of modern times! Real metal, powerful and melodic at the same time. All the tracks are very interesting. Cut any out, and the album integrity will be surely lost. The acoustic intro followed by high speed and power in “Battery”; wonderful changes of melodic structure in the summarized description of a drug addict’s life (if that can be called “life”) in “Master of Puppets”; bewitching “The Thing That Should Not Be” inspired by the horrible Lovecraft (I wonder if anyone else of metallians recalled that “monstrous guy” when writing some lyrics); “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”, the ballad inspired by the “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” movie; “Disposable Heroes”, the extended antiwar thing showing all the absurdity of wars; “Leper Messiah” aimed at religious bigots; “Orion”, the multipart instrumental, listening to which I imagine a spaceship flying through the expanses of the universe and landing on some distant planet; and, last but not least, “Damage, Inc.”, with the invocatory intro followed by the slashing thrash. The album is built up like the previous one, “Ride the Lightning”, i.e. acoustic intro, ballad, instrumental, that’s why we can consider these two albums to be the first and second part of one conceptual work created to show us evils of our society. (And the third part was “…and Justice for All”.) By the way, I’d like to mention the title track once more. It’s a pity that the band did not shoot some good video! As for me, when I listen to this thing, I can imagine really vividly this poor addict going through his terrible stretchies that now leave him, now come back again and stronger, while demons in his head go on laughing, “One more cross on the graveyard will be pretty soon!” Well, some scary shit, but c’est la fucking vie! Review by: Featus Wow, another solid album, Metallica is too much. Judging from my name, I bet you can tell that I love Metallica...and Opeth, but this album is another sick piece of art. Master Of Puppets, Ride The Lightning and ...And Justice For All demonstrates the awesome power of this band. Another 10/10. Review by: Featus battery is an awesome song for speed.this album is great. the solo in master fucking rules. and sanitarium is just great.(orion kinda sux tho)buy this album if you can. heaviness rating- 7/10 Review by: 11Th-Hour Has to be my fave metallica album Buy it You will be glad you did Review by: mixedd Master of puppets is by FAR Metallica's best cd. Every track on this cd is dope. The Solos are amazing, especially the one in the song Master of puppets. Orion has a deadly solo written by cliff burton as well.<--That is my favorite part of the intier cd. If you are going to buy a Metal cd this is the one for you. Review by: MetalMessiah no doubt, this and "...and justice for all" are Metallica when it's best!!!! but their producer have simply destroyed both albums!!!! the guitars sounds like they recorded them in a garage! they sounds so thin that it's even pathetic!!! and the drums almost sounds like cans!!! it realy takes the power and energy from the cool music and it simply destroys the albums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3/10 Review by: Cemetery fog fuck fuck fuck fuck,,fuckin my illusion! fuck metallica..you rulez guys..this album is really fuckin great..the best of kirk playing was in this album, and lars aswell, fuck ! Review by: rad_opeth This album is a great work, lot's of melody, but also hard riffs ... i just find the drums a little boring sometimes ... But anyway this album was the last work including Cliff, which means it really is a great disc that needs a place in every metalhead's cd-rack. The only negative thing is that this album has a little repetetive drums ... but that's nothing which should bother you too much while listening. Hail to the fathers of heavy metal for this work (because St.Anger sucks ass !) Review by: Mørke Morgûl this album sounds way more organized. better effects, and all that other happy horse shit, these guys just kept coming up with better and better stuff. R.I.P. cliff burton Review by: BreADfAN This is the best Metallica album ever and that means it is the best metal album ever. Every song is amaying, the lyrics are great, the solos are just perfect. Orion is the epitaph of a grat musician .RIP Cliff. Review by: Bogdan Mehedintu One of my first ever bought album. This is still the greatest Metallica album. Nice riffs and good recording. Review by: metaldoberman This was my first metal cd that I listen, and I love it, the best years of Metallica. 11/10 Review by: Azalin With and justice for all the best metallica album (even if I think that and justice for all is really the best one...).
