Mourning Beloveth is one of those few bands that possess plenty of talent. I say this because pure doom metal is a difficult genre to explore further, as compared to, say, death metal. For example, the variety of rhythms we can distinguish in death metal is more diverse than those of doom. Thus, I can say that the latter is more prone to become boring or tedious; however, this is not the case of Mourning Beloveth. | The "Sullen Sulcus" follows the same track as that of "Dust": it's full of grief and darkness; the riffs and rhythms are monotonous as usual, but carefully textured; you can find both melodic and "cookie-monster" voice. However, you can easily notice differences between these two albums. Honestly I haven't been able to specify these distinctions (apart from differences in sound production) , but I've got the feeling that "The Sullen Sulcus" is perhaps darker and less melodic than its predecessor. If you bought "Dust", you ought to get this one because this band offers the same doom metal they've always been playing since they were formed, but it is completely different from their previous works. A really great album indeed! Review by: -I-_Azagthoth_-I-
