Napalm Death, the innovators of grindcore, departed a bit from their roots on their third full length album, Harmony Corruption. The sound on this record is very bass oriented, and when listened at a low volume can often sound like indistinguishable mush. However, a closer listening reveals brilliant songwriting skills and superior instrument handling. Drummer Mick Harris' performance is especially phenomenal, most notably his double bass work, which is evident on tracks such as "Malicious Intent" or "Circle Of Hypocrisy". All in all, this album ranks as one of the best of Napalm Death, and of the death metal genre in general.

Why isn't Mick Harris blasting all the way? why does ND sound SO boring?????
SImple, this is DEATH METAL, and not even the good brutal type! Cannibal Corpse sounds WAAAAY better than this on their cult album "TOMB OF THE MUTILATED" which was released only 1 year after this.
the new ND line up CAN'T play GRINDCOER, CAN'T play good BDM, Can't do anything right.
Don't waste your money on anything with BARNEY on it, that man RUINS.

This album was quite shocking when it first came out. Another big line-up change had occured with 2 new guitarists (Mitch and Jesse) and new singer Barney. All these guys had previous experience with great bands such as Terrorizer, Benediction and Righteous Pigs. Anyways you probably already know this!
Upon it's release, i thought this lp was very dissapointing compared to the previous albums. Long gone were the short bursts of chaotic noise, the caveman screams and growls, the destructive noisy guitars... Now it was highly death metal influenced grindcore. I still think that most of these tracks are grindcore, it's the Scott Burns/Morrisound Studios production that make the LP sound so death metal. But 2 new guitarists really changed the playing style alot. The new guys were definately very talented, and having 2 guitars added more depth to the N.D. sound. But i don't think that making such a blatantly death metal sounding LP was such a good idea for the band at the time. Commercially it was a right move, but it seemed that they were following the trend instead of grinding the way like they did before.
Death Metal was starting to get very big at the time and i think that this LP had a very big impact on the scene. Bands everywhere started ripping out blast beats in their songs.
There are some very good tracks like If The Truth Be Known, Malicious Intent, Mind Snare and Suffer The Children (a classic still played live).
Harmony Corruption is a pretty good album, it think it would deserve a higher review if it was another band because being a N.D. album the expectations are extremely high. Dissappointing, yet excellent, i give it 80/100.

Hello, ND is one of the fuckers masters of death metal, Napalm Death represents one of the pioneers of a music style called Death Metal, very authentic, very originals, and, of course, very, very brutals, his lyrics are not classical themes of death and murders, his lyrics got a lot of intelligence and sense, ND Music criticize the fuckin politician and the putrid of our society, ND is a fucking punch on the face of traditional music topics, ND is really BRUTAL MUSIC, ND is the authentic Death Metal, and they do it, very well!!! Ahhh... Harmony Corruptions is for me... one of his best productions. Bye...
