Well this is actually october tides first album and not second. | A real Gem of the doom genre and some of the best vocals ever made Review by: divine_intent This album is fucking great! Vocals reminds a lot of the debut Katatonia album, "Dance of the December Souls". Good use of violins too. This is a morose atmosphere just like we want to hear from those guys. Hail to the "true" Melancholic Doom Metal!!! Review by: Roby Like Katatonia, this is very emotional music and also stylewise fits perfectly between For Funerals to Come and Brave Murder Day. Hell, maybe this album is what was supposed to be Moonbride by Katatonia - the unreleased album which was to be released after FFtC and had even the cover painting finished, which is one hell of a cover if you ask me. ;) Well, back to the business. All the songs on Rain Without End are outstanding and it's impossible to pick one single favourite. This is not actually to similar to any Katatonia release, but maybe the closest one to compare is For Funerals to Come, although this is not as epic. There're even some hard rock refereces notable here. Not in a way that it would make the music ridiculous or anything, but in a way that makes it even more interesting. All in all, this album is marvellous. The emotions we are dealing with this one are out of this world and that's the reason I love this so much. I cannot review this objectively, because I don't think this is very original album after all. Still, if I try to say a bad thing about it results in a dilemma. So in a nutshell, if Katatonia (pre Discouraged Ones) has touched your soul, I'm sure that this will too. Maybe even more - in my case it has. ;) And if Katatonia is just another nice band to you, then chances are you won't find anything special here. You could give it a try still. ;) Review by: samoniac no doubt, one of the top 20 metal albums ever. what? yes. October Tide. Review by: ttong
