host. it is not the old Paradise Lost style. but actully, it is a NEW TYPE OF MUSIC! (on my point of view.) and i like it. it is nice, its kinda techno with metal mixture. well it is still a new style, not metal! but still...nice as a NEW style. | Review by: iNfernum Nothing to do with classics, this is not metal, this is brit pop,how a band that make songs like Eternal and albuns like Lost paradise and Shades of God can make a crap like that!! To break up now is the best decision, the one of the best bands til Draconian Times is dead for me now. Review by: MESSE NOIR The "Host" is a difficult case. The most of the Paradise Lost fans hate this album, because the distorsion guitars are needed. The sound is like Depeche Mode, but if you like the tipical Paradise Lost melodies you can fine here too. Give "Host" a chance! It's a good album but the others is realy better... Review by: Autumn I'm a (really!) great fan of PL since i first listened to "gothic" (just because i didn't know yet "lost paradise"...) and i don't feel ashamed to say that this album didn't disappointed me at all... filtered guitars, lots of analog synths, string sections and awesome cristal-clear vocals... if you love MUSIC and not just a 1% of it this is a GREAT album, actually one of the best of PL and surely the album of the year. gothic pop? maybe. for sure the best since depeche mode... Review by: dheim how I forgot to write something about this album. Host is my favorite P.L. album unlike the fans. I am not sick of listening it since I have gotten it probably 7-8 years ago. In their album, they changed their music style totally different way: a synth-pop album with a lot of depeche mode influence and great X 10 lyrics. So emotional, catchy, brilliant album. You should get it if you like a emotional yet electronic album not for fans who loves "gothic" and "lost paradise" albums. I guess they hated this album. But give it a try and listen some good, emotional, candid album. 9.5/10 Review by: semitrust
