A great Album even it has only four real songs, you can compare it with Paradise Lost's "Gothic"-album, but i think its a bit heavier than the second Paradise Lost. In 1992 Pyogenesis still played a enjoyable mix between Death/Black/Doom, mostly grunts on this one and not that alternative-shit like on the following albums.

this is a great gothic/doom/death album. fans of paradise lost, my dying bride etc. should have this album. sadly their transformation to alt-pop-goth rock crossover ended their brilliant doom/death era.

Debut Pyogenesis on Osmose Records. Like the other reviewers have mentioned, there's a sound akin to old Paradise Lost here....that cannot be denied (but old Paradise Lost cannot be touched by anyone else!!!). Yes, this Pyogenesis LP shares a number of qualities and attributes to old Paradise Lost, but don't consider this one to be a complete old Paradise Lost clone like many other bands of the time. The sound on this Pyogenesis album is awesome. The song-writing is incredible. Pyogenesis definately took their cue from early Paradise Lost, but whereas early Paraidse Lost (circa "Gothic") was more apt to take you to the apex of melancholic riffing and drop you into a void of shimmering de-tuned, open-note guitar despair, Pyogenesis were looking to include a bit more fist-bangin rockin' riffs on you...and to great effect!!! I remember playing this one as a teenager in 1992 while walking through an anthracite coal processing plant in Ashley, Pennsylvania and feeling completely amazed!! Long live old school death doom!!!
