①			Arx Atrata - The Path Untravelled Score: 10/10 Arx Atrata is one of those bands I bumped into purely by accident. They're not signed on a label, not appear on any compilation, but am I glad I gave them a shot! The atmosphere and melodies is something I haven't heard since the brilliant Woods Of Desolation. As this is their third album I'm amazed they flew under the radar so long. Totally underrated black metal!

③			Rotting Christ - The Heretics Score: 10/10 Three years ago when 'Rituals' ended high in my yearlist, I already wrote about Rotting Christs' tendency to change their style every so often. No surprise then that The Heretics is continuing in the same style. No disappointment either, because it was among my favourite Rotting Christ releases ever. The Heretics is a bit more straightforward and less experimental than Rituals, but still a most excellent release.

Mgła - Age of Excuse Score: 9.5/10 When reviewing Mgła's previous album Exercises in Futility, I couldn't really put my finger on it what made the album so good. But after listening closely I finally figured it out: It's their four-armed drummer! At least that's what he sounds like. Either that, or they summoned Cthulhu and put him behind a drumkit. Age Of Excuse follows the same style of atmospheric black metal with insane drumming. Not quite as brilliant as the previous album, but still it bashes its way to the top of the yearlist.				④

⑤			Nasheim - Jord Och Aska Score: 9.5/10 Nasheim has been on my radar for a while, but never really stood out that much. Good ideas, but execution a bit lacking. On their latest album Jord Och Aska they finally did a lot of things right, and the results shows! Their doomy black metal mix works, the three songs spanning over fourty minutes stay captivating, production is still a bit weak but with songwriting like this it doesn't matter. Hoping for more of these albums in the future!

Kampfar - Ofidians Manifest Score: 9.5/10 Kampfar in my yearlist is no surprise, as all their releases the last decade have been consistenly strong. I must say the originality seems to go down a bit, but with such high quality production, blasting this album at high volume is still a pleasurable torture. Or just torture torture for your neighbors.				⑥

⑦			Mesarthim - Ghost Condensate Score: 9.5/10 Mesarthim is such an odd band, pushing the border of what Metal is. At moments you have happy keyboard melodies and techno beats, then there's black metal screams and blastbeats. For sure metal purists will hate this, but for those don't mind mixing in a bit of peaceful optimism with their hateful nihilism, this album makes a very nice listening.

Waldgeflüster - Mondscheinsonaten Score: 9.5/10 2019 is turning out to be a good year for atmospheric black metal band, partly due to Waldgeflüster's latest album. While it seems a bit rawer and more black metal than their previous album 'Ruinen', there's still plenty of slower interludes and clean vocals, and I would say the mix works even better for them than previous efforts.				⑧

⑨			Árstíðir Lífsins - Saga á tveim tungum I: Vápn ok viđr Score: 9.5/10 The Band With The Unpronouncable Name is no stranger to the Lost Souls Domain yearlists, and their latest album that I cannot pronounce is almost as good as their previous album I also couldn't pronounce. All madness aside, their crazy folk and black and deathmetal mixed in a viking movie soundtrack kind of way is so interesting you even forgive them for getting carried away with their male choir thing now and then.

Wandar - Zyklus Score: 9.5/10 Wandar, not to be confused with legendary band Windir, is a German black metal band. When I say they mix in some death and folk with their long atmospheric black metal songs I could be describing most of the albums in this yearlist, but that doesn't take away from the quality of Wandar's latest effort, and the massive improvement they made since their last release.				⑩

⑪		Ataraxie - Résignés Score: 9.5/10 When you make four songs and they don't fit on one cd, it's likely that you are into funeral doom. Ataraxie from France is one of my favourites in the genre, and I've waited a long time for their new album. Just to prove that nothing in Funeral Doom goes fast, it has been six years since they released their last album. The four tracks of twenty-minute-something unpleasantness are totally worth the wait though.
